TAC & Worksafe Physiotherapy

Accidents happen. If you’re involved in a transport or workplace accident, it’s important that you get the support you need. Seeing a physiotherapist may offer road users and injured workers a number of benefits, including:

  • Comprehensive assessment, treatment and monitoring throughout the rehabilitation process that is tailored to their individual needs
  • Assistance with regular communication between yourself, your employer, insurance companies, and other practitioners to help manage the injury
  • Guidance and clear explanation about Work Safe and/or TAC policies and procedures

TAC Eligibility

To use TAC funding, the following information is required prior to your appointment:

  1. TAC Claim Number
  2. Name and Contact details of Case manager (if assigned)
  3. Date of Accident
  4. The ‘treatment approval’ letter from the TAC (please contact the TAC if you don’t have this letter)

Approved TAC claims usually cover treatment for the first 90 days after the accident. Further funding can be requested by your Physiotherapist if you require ongoing treatment. If it has been more than 6 months since you’ve had any treatment or service paid for by the TAC, you or your provider will need to contact the TAC before your appointment to seek approval for further treatment.

Work Safe Eligibility

To use Work Safe funding, the following information is required prior to your appointment:

  1. Date of Accident
  2. Employer’s name
  3. WorkSafe Agent’s Name
  4. Name and provider number of the referring medical practitioner (if service is referred)

You must notify your employer of an injury as soon as possible. Your employer will then report to WorkCover in order to qualify you for a rehabilitation program. Failing to report your injury to your employer within 30 days may result in loss of compensation entitlements.
