Running Assessment

Improve your running performance whilst reducing risk of injury when you get assessed by one of our expert running physiotherapists.

Running long distances typically places large forces on the body which can often lead to reduced time spent on the trails and roads due to injury. A key contributor to these injuries is poor runing technique and altered kinematic patterns of movement. It is no suprise then that improving your running technique plays an important role in injury prevention, rehabilitation and running performance.

What’s Involved in a running assessment?

At A Plus Physiotherapy, our running assessments involve using video analysis on a treadmill to help identify your running style and any kinematic patterns that may be leading to biomechanical errors and injury. The development of our unique running analysis allows us to get a clear insight into how you run and takes the guess work out of what is occurring.

We help guide you through modifiying your running technique and program to enhance your running ability, improve your movement, reduce pain and decrease the risk of injury.

We also combine your running technique retraining with load tolerance and capacity development through strength and conditioning, aiming to bring out the best in both the weekend warrior and competitive runner alike.

By systematically retraining and fine-tuning components of your running technique, our trained physiotherapists can ultimately help prevent and rehabilitate those common running injuries whilst also stimulating massive gains in your running efficiency and economy, improving those race times!

Who is Elegiable for a Running Assesment?

As mentioned previously, our running assessments are for the weekend warrior and competitive runner alike. We see anyone of any age who loves running, or is involved in a sport that requires running.

Whether your experiencing a slight niggle, an injury, returning to sport or simply want to improve your running performance and economy, our goal is to help you achieve your goals.

Preventing Running Injuries

We understand that no injury is completely preventable, however there are strategies you can employ to minimize your risk of running related injuries.

At A Plus Physiotherapy, we have a designated one hour strength and conditioing training class on our timetable designed to complement your running program.

The class focuses on a range of exercises aimed at decreasing the risk of overload injuries commonly associated with running. This includes a focus on lower limb strength, trunk/core activation and coordination exercises aimed at improving your motor control and proprioception.

Furthermore, as part of our commitment to your holistic improvement, we ensure open communication with running coaches and personal trainers at all times to further facilitate injury prevention and optimize your performance.
